A Stuffed Deep Dish pizza in College Station, Texas.

Covid was a tipping point for them, but they tipped in the right direction.

Pizza at Piasano's in College Station Texas

Piasano’s Italian Pizzeria, opened in 2019 in Wellborn, Texas. The shop was so small that it was only ever meant to be carry-out and delivery, so when Covid overtook the world, they didn’t have to adapt or veer off course. They were already established as the place to run in, grab a great pizza, and miss all the big crowds. And because of that, they were able to gain momentum during a time when many restaurants were sinking.

In January 2023, they moved to a new location in College Station, Texas, conveniently off highway 6 and Rock Prairie rd. It’s still the place to pop in after work and grab a pizza to take home, but now they have a spacious dining room that can accommodate a busy dinner rush, as well as large parties.

The Pias family has a heart for giving. They sponsor sports teams, organizations and church groups regularly. As I talked with Patty, she explained to me how much she would love to fill their dining room with little league teams, high school groups and other organizations; to be a place for them to gather and grow together.

If your group is looking for a meeting place, a sponsor, or an advertiser, you should reach out to them; they are constantly looking for ways to connect with the BCS community even more than they already do.

Pizza rolls have long been a classic in college towns, but Piasano’s has the best. When I was interviewing Patty, I got to try the classic Pepperoni Rolls; hand grated mozzarella cheese and pepperoni, rolled into house made dough and baked to perfection then brushed with garlic butter. You can also build your own to include what you want!

The only acceptable side dish for pizza is more pizza!…. I mean a salad (and more pizza). I got an Italian salad and it was way bigger than I expected, definitely a good meal on its own. Crisp romaine, bell peppers, onions, black olives, then topped with pepperoni and freshly grated mozzarella, and a side of Italian dressing. This salad and a build your own pizza roll, that sounds like a perfect lunch for me.

With so many specialty pizzas, I had a hard time choosing so Patty helped me decide. Thin crust Vegetariano (because I LOVE veggie pizza) was the first to come out. The cheese was hot and gooey, and all of the veggies were bright and fresh and cooked to perfection. That crust though, so crispy! This was a lighter pizza; with all of the flavor I was craving but a less heavy and more health conscious option. This was my personal favorite of the evening.

That monster of a pizza you see in the photos though, that was pure pizza bliss. That’s their specialty, the stuffed deep dish pizza and she's thicc!! A double layer of crust, stuffed with sauce, Parmesan, mozzarella, and three toppings of your choosing; mine was pepperoni, sausage, and bacon. One slice is so big that it’s enough for a meal for me. So if you’re coming for this one, you’d better bring some friends.
