City Creek Burger Co - A Classic Hamburger Joint

A Classic Hamburger Joint

Their sign still says Davis Tire Shop, but today the building is filled with the smells of sizzling burgers and the sounds of friendly chatter.

Robby Parkinson is from Navasota, Texas originally, but lived in Houston for about 25 years. A few years ago, he and his wife, Nikki, decided to move back to Navasota and wanted a way to give back to Robby’s hometown and open up a classic hamburger joint that they'd been missing. That's where the idea of City Creek Burger Co came from.

Mr. Davis owned a tire shop on South La Salle St for many years and was ready to retire. Childhood friends with his son, Robby decided to approach Mr. Davis about buying the building. Mr. Davis agreed and they began renovations. There were over 700 tires to relocate, among all the other tear-down and restoration duties to be completed. Now it's a bright and open dining area with a very relaxed atmosphere.

They have a limited menu and find that their customers appreciate that it’s not overwhelming when you walk up to the counter to order. It also helps streamline their process. City Creek is only open for lunch Wednesday through Saturday, so it’s important to the Parkinson’s to get their guest fed in a timely manner so they can get back to work or their downtown stroll.

The burger was so delicious and fresh. The bun was buttery and toasted and the veggies

were crisp and fresh. The patty was seasoned with a house-crafted seasoning blend, cooked on a flat top to medium-well, then layered with a slice of gooey cheese, mayo and mustard and all the veggies. This was the classic American cheeseburger and fries.

That patty melt though; y’all - I couldn’t believe how good it was. I love a good patty melt, but this one blew me away. It was ooey and gooey, savory and saucy. The Texas toast was buttery and grilled and the patty was a juicy medium-well. The patty was topped with melty cheees and grilled onion. Then drizzled over the top of all of that was a house-crafted sauce that was creamy and cool, but filled with spices for a flavor punch (but it’s not spicy). I can’t guarantee they will have the patty melt when you go, because they run different specials, but I’m personally hoping they’ll add it to their permanent menu.

They both came with a pile of hot, crisp fries seasoned with a classic dash of salt. Both dishes were a perfect size for a lunch to grab while you’ve been out strolling the shops in Downtown Navasota. The atmosphere is light and upbeat, with a wonderfully friendly staff.
